Report: Andre Iguodala, Grizzlies reach deal to keep him out of training camp

Could Andre Iguodala be making his way back to the Golden State Warriors, to end his career where he won three NBA championships and the Finals MVP award in 2015?

Chris Herrington of the Daily Memphian reports that Iguodala and the Memphis Grizzlies have reached an agreement that will honor his wishes to decline participation in Grizzlies training camp and steer clear of the team’s plans leading to its season opener.

Iguodala has played 15 season in the NBA, eight with the Philadelphia 76ers, one with the Denver Nuggets and six with the Warriors — achieving his greatest success after agreeing to come off the bench for Golden State, resulting in five consecutive Finals appearances, three championships and a Finals MVP award.

Herrington further reports that the agreement with Memphis keeps him on the trade market. Whether the Warriors could scoop him up is yet to be seen, but new-look Golden State — featuring three draft picks and a lot of other news faces — could surely use his veteran leadership, second-unit anchoring and abilities to energize a stagnant offense, get defensive stops and end an opponent’s runs.

NBA free agency in 2019 was wild! Stranger things have happened … as recently as this past July.
