Report: Alec Burks signs one-year deal with Warriors

The Golden State Warriors are going to look dramatically different next season. Kevin Durant and Andre Iguodala are gone while D’Angelo Russell has joined the team to give the Warriors a bit of depth up top with Klay Thompson recovering from a torn ACL.

With the Warriors still looking to fill out their roster, the team has recently come to terms with free agent guard Alec Burks on a one-year deal, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

Burks spent the first seven years of his career with the Utah Jazz while spending time with both the Cavaliers and Kings last season.

Burks had originally committed to signing with the Oklahoma City Thunder, but after Paul George was moved to the Los Angeles Clippers, Burks asked to reconsider the commitment with the Thunder going through a clear rebuild.

Burks is a guy who isn’t incredibly efficient, but can score at all three levels. He’s not a guy you want creating off the dribble, but can in situations with the time running down off the clock. He shot 36 percent from deep last year and shot as well as 40 percent from distance during the 2015-16 season.

Burks is a decent addition to the Warriors bench, but has a lot of work to do on the defensive end. Burks turns 28 this month and will be playing for an opportunity for his last big contract next summer.
