Report: A.J. Green expected to remain out through at least Week 6

As the Cincinnati Bengals prepare to play the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night, the latest A.J. Green injury update isn’t a good one.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Green seems likely to miss the team’s next two games, against the Arizona Cardinals and Baltimore Ravens, at a minimum.

“Green will not play Monday night against the Steelers, and he is not expected to play at least the next two weeks, either, against Arizona and at Baltimore, per sources,” Schefter tweeted.

This still isn’t too much of a surprise. We’ve noted there wasn’t any reason to risk racing Green back for the game against the Steelers, especially with both teams sitting at 0-3.

Regardless of Monday’s result, the same rule applies as the season continues. Green only just recently got back to working on the rehab field. He’s slowly making his way back from an injury suffered on the first day of training camp.

Green is in a contract year, and the new Bengals staff continues to see the emergence of John Ross and Auden Tate alongside Tyler Boyd during a (so far) winless season, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see all parties handle things even slower than this.

The Bengals have a Week 9 bye after a trip to London for a game against the Los Angeles Rams. They host the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 7.
