Replacement announced for juice bar at Wapping Wharf in Bristol which closed in December

A café and juice bar at Wapping Wharf which closed in December will be replaced by a shop for beer lovers.

The Juice Box opened in place of Lovett Pies in September 2018 and specialised in cold-press juices.

But last month it closed with owner Emma Frampton saying she wants to "take a break from the crazy world of juice".

Thankfully however the unit in Cargo 1 will not be empty for long, as the management behind the harbourside development have today announced its replacement.

Craft bottle shop Beer Necessities will launch in the unit in February - but those who visit Wapping Wharf regularly will already be familiar with the name as it is moving from its current home in Cargo 2, just a stone's throw away.

Henry Revell, owner of Beer Necessities, said: "Since we opened our shop in September 2019 our business has gone from strength to strength and we love being a part of the Wapping Wharf community.

"We are hugely excited about our move to Cargo 1 as it will give us the opportunity to redesign the layout of our shop and incorporate more seating for our customers."

It is not yet known what will replace Beer Necessities after its departure from Cargo 2, and business owners who would like to join the area are encouraged to apply.

Stuart Hatton, managing director at Umberslade, the developer behind Wapping Wharf, said: "We wish The Juice Collective all the very best with their future plans and look forward to popping by Beer Necessities' exciting new shop soon!

"From the outset, our approach at Cargo has been to offer flexible terms so independent businesses had the chance to try out new concepts and ideas, and adapt quickly as their business evolves.

"So we fully appreciate that for some, it will be the right fit, and for others, their calling might be elsewhere.

"We’ve had lots of interest already in the space currently home to Beer Necessities in Cargo 2, but we’re still interested in hearing from retailers who can bring something different and complimentary to the mix."

February will also see the launch of award-winning burger bar Squeezed, which is moving from its old unit in Cargo 2 to Cargo 1 - in the same fashion as Beer Necessities - replacing The Cider Shop.
