Egypt announced the end of the quarantine period for its citizens returning from China, stressing that those were all coronavirus-free.
In a statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Health said that all those who returned from Wuhan were in good health and did not suffer from any epidemic diseases.
The people returned home on Monday in buses that transported them to the governorates of Cairo and Alexandria. They had spent 14 days in quarantine in a hotel west of the country, upon their return from Wuhan.
Egypt’s Minister of Health Dr. Hala Zayed said that quarantine personnel in all border entrances were on full alert and ready to monitor the flow of people coming into the country 24 hours a day.
In early February, the Egyptian authorities sent a plane to Wuhan to repatriate 302 Egyptians studying in Chinese universities. The Minister of Health said that members of the medical and administrative teams participated in following up the returnees of their own free will and out of their desire to serve the country.”
“The medical teams, which include 450 personnel, were provided with the highest training in accordance with the guidelines of the World Health Organization… They will be honored by the ministry,” Zayed noted.
Last week, a person in Egypt tested positive for the disease. The person, who is not Egyptian, was put in hospital isolation, the ministry of health said.
