Work is underway to repair a bridge at the entrance to Calderglen Park.
Vehicle access to the park has been restricted after a visit by council officers found areas of wear and tear on the bridge, which provides the sole vehicle access to the park and zoo, as well as to residential properties and sports facilities.
The park remains open and temporary barriers are in place.
The road will remain closed to vehicles during the works, which are expected to be completed within two weeks depending on the weather, although pedestrian and cycle access into the park will be permitted over the bridge.
As this is the sole vehicle access to the park visitors are directed to the adjoining Colonsay Field overflow parking area.
Residents and users of the park sports facilities have been contacted and alternative arrangements put in place.
However, there is no general access via the park’s one-way exit road.
David Booth, general manager of South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture, explained: “Calderglen Country Park is one of our most popular attractions, and despite the cold winter days, has remained a magnet for many enjoying the outdoors during lockdown.
“I know that closing off entrance to vehicles temporarily will be an inconvenience, but the safety of our visitors, and those who live within the environs of the park, is paramount.
“We are working with teams across the council to complete the works, with the aim of opening the park back up to all as soon as we can.”
