Repair Shop tears as 'every member of crew' breaks down in emotional scene

The Repair Shop star Steve Fletcher has recalled an occasion that left the whole crew working on the show in tears.

The resident horologist of the workshop who is usually seen repairing clockwork items has witnessed many emotional scenes on the hit BBC One show as guests saw some beloved items from their past repaired and returned to them.

However, there have been moments that left everyone struggling to remain composed.

According to The Sun, Steve revealed: “Sometimes every member of the production crew is in tears.

"I remember once the boom operator was in floods, but since the poor lad had to use both arms to hold the boom up, he had no way of wiping the tears away."

Steve is not the only person who has commented on the emotional nature of the series, with host Jay Blades also reflecting on them.

Jay said: "When someone comes in to collect the restored item, sometimes you can see them revert back to a five-year-old kid.

"They’re reminded of how that item looked when they first got it. It takes them right back there and that is magic."

The Repair Shop first began airing in 2017 and is already in its eighth series.

The show has been narrated by Scottish actor Bill Paterson since its fifth series after previously narrating the first run, from the second to fourth series the show was narrated by Welsh actor Robert Pugh.

Earlier this year, BBC bosses were not happy to learn that Jay Blades had become their latest star to be snapped up for a documentary series by Channel 5.

One insider told The Mirror at the time: “Channel 5 is trying to become some sort of BBC Lite – they keep signing our presenters.

"They need to create a separate identity.”

*The Repair Shop airs on Wednesdays at 8pm on BBC One with previous episodes available on BBC iPlayer.
