Rep. Sinema stalked for years by New York man, according to court document

WASHINGTON _ A New York man entered a not guilty plea Tuesday to a federal charge of stalking Arizona Rep. Kyrsten Sinema after he was arrested last Friday outside her office on the seventh floor of the Longworth House Office Building.

Amos Olagunju of Brooklyn has been shadowing and attempting to make contact with Sinema since 2014, according to an affidavit from a federal agent obtained by NBC Washington's News4 I-Team.

U.S. Capitol Police have warned Olagunju to stop his behavior. He has been issued two court-ordered injunctions that he not contact Sinema, the News4 I-Team reported.

In 2014, Olagunju attempted to contact Sinema 95 times to "express his love" for her, according to the affidavit. He has also dispatched packages to her campaign office, tried to volunteer for past campaigns, left voicemails on her offices' phone lines, and shown up to at least one campaign event in Arizona.

Sinema's office directed all questions to the U.S. Capitol Police.

"We do not comment on ongoing investigations," a spokeswoman for the U.S. Capitol Police said in an email responding to a comment query.

As of Tuesday afternoon, there is a Facebook page belonging to Amos Olagunju from Brooklyn that features numerous love posts to Sinema, a Democrat who is running for Republican Sen. Jeff Flake's open seat in Arizona later this year.

Olagunju calls Sinema his "darling," "lovely blonde" and "honey," among other pet nicknames in dozens of posts from 2015 linking to the congresswoman's social media accounts and website.
