Rep. Scott Taylor subpoenaed to testify in petition signature lawsuit

WASHINGTON _ Virginia Democrats subpoenaed Republican Rep. Scott Taylor to testify in a case accusing his staff of falsifying petition signatures.

Democrats have accused Taylor's campaign of forging signatures to get a third-party candidate on the ballot in the state's 2nd District.

Democratic attorneys subpoenaed Taylor along with independent candidate Shaun Brown, campaign workers who collected the signatures, Taylor's former consultant Rob Catron, the chairman of the Virginia Beach GOP and two people in the petitions, according to the Virginian-Pilot.

Democrats want to remove Brown from the ballot.

The lawsuit says Brown listed addresses where she never lived and received signatures of people who said they never signed a petition.

The lawsuit is being conducted in Richmond Circuit Court.

Last week, it was discovered one of the five people who is accused of collecting forged signatures on Taylor's campaign still worked for him.
