Rep. Mike Garcia Accuses FBI Director Of Lack Of Transparency

FBI Director Wray testifies on Capitol Hill in Washington, U.S.

During a recent meeting with the House Appropriations subcommittee, Rep. Mike Garcia, R-Calif., expressed his lack of trust in FBI Director Christopher Wray. Garcia accused Wray of not being transparent and failing to address national security concerns, particularly related to the southern border.

When given the opportunity to question Wray, Garcia did not hold back, stating, 'I don’t trust you.' He criticized Wray for what he perceived as a lack of leadership in shaping policies to protect the country.

Border Security Concerns

Wray highlighted his concerns about the southern border, emphasizing the threat posed by violent gangs and the flow of fentanyl into the U.S. He mentioned the FBI's efforts to combat cartels and the alarming amount of fentanyl seized in recent years.

Garcia raised issues regarding illegal immigration, citing the presence of individuals on the FBI terror watch list and the number of people who have entered the country illegally. He accused Wray and other officials of failing to protect American citizens.

Response from Wray

Wray defended his stance on border security, stating that he had consistently raised concerns about the threats emanating from the border. He declined to disclose specific conversations with government officials but reiterated his commitment to addressing national security risks.

The exchange between Garcia and Wray underscored the ongoing debate over border security and the role of law enforcement agencies in safeguarding the nation.
