The owners of a Coatbridge pub have announced their reopening plans, saying they aim to welcome back customers on Monday, April 26.
It represents the earliest potential reopening for bars and restaurants, with Scotland’s suggested routemap out of lockdown potentially allowing the hospitality sector to reopen from that date.
The timetable announced earlier this month by Nicola Sturgeon could see “the hospitality sector reopen outdoors for the service of alcohol, and potentially open indoors for non-alcohol service”.
Pub chain Wetherspoon, which operates The Vulcan on Main Street in Coatbridge, say: “In accordance with Scottish government rules, the pub will serve food and non-alcoholic drinks inside the premises and will be able to serve alcohol without the requirement for a meal in its beer garden.”
The company say they plan to open from 9am to 9pm Sunday to Thursday and until 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays, with a reduced food menu available until 7pm and internal areas closing by 8pm every day.
Wetherspoon stated: “Customers will be able to order and pay through our app; however, staff will be able to take orders and payment at the table from those who don’t have the app.
“The pub will not be operating a booking system. Test and Protect will be in operation and hand sanitisers will be available.”
Vulcan manager Sam Brown said: “We are looking forward to welcoming our customers and staff back after a long time away.”
All hospitality businesses in Lanarkshire have been completely closed since before Christmas in the current lockdown, and had only been able to open for a combined total of four weeks since October with a ban on alcohol sales and a 6pm closure time.
