Renton set for housing boost with 25 new homes planned for Dalquhurn

Renton is set for a housing boost, thanks to the creation of additional new homes in Dalquhurn.

The regeneration of the village continues with the plan to build 25 new properties on the vacant site on Taylor Street.

A total of 15 two bedroom, eight three-bed and two four-bed homes are set to be constructed - the first on the Dalquhurn site since the last phase of development in 2010.

Cordale Housing Association have received the go-ahead for the creation of the new homes for rent on part of the former dye works site, which had been left derelict following the completion of the Johnstone Road development.

Margaret McCallion, chairperson of Cordale Housing Association, welcomed the news, saying: “We are delighted to receive planning consent to proceed with the development of these new homes.

“We opened our new office earlier this year which transformed the heart of Renton.

“It’s fantastic we are now providing new affordable housing and helping to revitalise Dalquhurn.

“It’s been a remarkable year for Cordale Housing Association”.

Work, to be carried out by contractor Engie, is expected to begin in August with a target completion date of mid 2020.
