In fact, many other cities in the Sunshine State offer vibrant nightlife or coastal views without the hefty price tag of Miami. Here are seven cities that are safer and cheaper than Miami if you are renting in Florida

Port St. Lucie

According to Realtor.com, Port St. Lucie was one of the safest places to live where you could actually afford a home.

The beachside city offers condos for $150,000. Located two hours from Miami, the city is far enough from the chaos. With a total crime rate of 19.6, the city ranks third on Realtor.com’s list of safest places to live.

The city is filled with young families and retirees, according to Realtor.com, making it an ideal location for those who prioritize safety and security above all else.

Ocala

The picturesque city of Ocala also ranks high for renters hoping to escape the high price tag of Miami. As reported by Apartments.com, a one-bedroom apartment rents for around $1,290, considerably less than a similar rental in Miami. The city is only 50 miles from the beach and offers an array of things for residents to do, including horseback riding and trails throughout the area.

Deerfield Beach

Deerfield Beach topped the list of cheapest cities near Miami, according to Rent.com. A two-bedroom apartment in the area will cost around $1,770. Located around 45 minutes away from Miami, Deerfield Beach residents enjoy fewer tourists, thriving schools and quiet neighborhoods.

Sebring

Apartments.com also recommended the city of Sebring as a safe and affordable option in Florida. A one-bedroom apartment in the area costs around $859, nearly half of the average in the state. The city is home to an International Raceway and offers a wide variety of dining options for its residents.

Hialeah

With downtown Miami only 20 minutes away, many Miami workers reside in the quiet community of Hialeah. As reported by Rent.com, the average rent of a two-bedroom apartment is $1,890 per month. The city is rich with Cuban culture and is often a must-stop for visitors. Few people can resist stopping by the local town, which is considered highly affordable for the area

Lakeland

Just 30 miles from Tampa sits the beautiful city of Lakeland, Florida. The city is one of the most affordable cities to live in in the state, according to Redfin.

A plethora of museums and cultural centers, along with lots of green space, help to draw people of all ages to the city. Renters will enjoy lower rates while still having nearby access to the best amenities.

Pine Hills

Ranking No. 1 on Redfin’s “Most Affordable Places to Live in Florida” is Pine Hills. Sitting a mere 6 miles from Ontario, many Pine Hills residents find their free time spent at nearby amusement parks or simply lounging around Lake Lawne. The city is stunning and considerably less expensive compared to Miami.
