Work to renovate Liverpool's India Buildings is continuing as another part of the revamp received planning approval.
HMRC, the planned new tenant of the Grade II*-listed Water Street building, applied for permission to carry out extra works in relation to the revamp earlier this year and got the green light from planners this month.
The government body announced in 2017 that it planned to move thousands of tax workers into the building as part of a new "super centre".
Construction has been ongoing inside the huge office building ahead of that move that could eventually see thousands working across ten floors.
The project was originally due to be finished in the summer but a delay was announced last year after asbestos was found inside the building, pushing the move date back to the end of 2020.
The pandemic has impacted the move further, with the advice at every level of the government's new tiered restrictions advising workers to work from home where possible.
That system is set to be in place until at least the end of March.
At the time of the announcement that HMRC would take over the building, mayor Joe Anderson said it would help secure the future of one of the city's most outstanding buildings.

He said: “This is welcome news which will not only deliver an economic boost by increasing the number of workers employed in this part of the city, but also secures the future of one of our most loved buildings.
“It is a huge vote of confidence from Government and another shot in the arm for our ongoing renaissance which is seeing us attract investment not just in new developments but also in regenerating landmark buildings.”
