Rennes prospect Faitout Mouassa responds to Manchester United transfer speculation

Faitout Maouassa says it is 'really nice' to be linked with Manchester United but insists he is fully focused on current club Stade Rennais.

The 21-year-old has been one of the star performers in Ligue 1 this season, with his displays helping Rennes to qualify for next season's Champions League.

Maouassa's breakthrough season has seen him linked with a number of clubs in the summer transfer window, with a recent report from L’Equipe suggesting United are keen on a move.

However, MEN Sport understands United are not prioritising the signing of a new left-back this summer due to Luke Shaw's good form and Brandon Williams' emergence.

That hasn't stopped United from being linked with Maouassa and he admitted he is flattered to have been linked with a move to Old Trafford.

"I don’t let it go to my head," the defender told Telefoot. "It’s nice, I won’t lie, it’s really nice to see clubs like that be interested in you. It’s just a pleasure, really, but like I said, I’m really happy at Rennes, I feel good and I’m staying grounded.

"With the season we did, I think we’re all a bit sought after, but personally, I’m happy at Rennes, we’ve got the Champions League, there’s no real reason for me to go seeing as I’m really happy here.”
