Rennes president issues update on status of Man United target Eduardo Camavinga

The president of Stade Rennais FC has provided an update on midfielder Eduardo Camavinga amid reports of a potential move to Manchester United this summer.

Camavinga, 18, is one of the midfielders currently under consideration by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as he weighs up a potential move this summer.

The French international is out of contract at the Ligue 1 side next summer and is said to be available for £25.7m in the current transfer window.

Rennes president Nicolas Holveck has told French radio station RMC that talks are still ongoing over the teenager's future, but admitted that the club could lose the player this summer.

"Discussions are still ongoing, everything is open, either for a departure during this transfer window - if an offer satisfies everyone - or to extend (his contract)," Holveck said.

"He won't leave for cheap, we've had a lot of discussions but nothing is complete one way or another."

Interest in Camavinga is being driven by his representatives at the Stellar Agency now that he has just a year left on his current deal.

Declan Rice is believed to be United's preferred target as he is Premier League-proven and rejected the offer of a new West Ham contract earlier this month.

Should United go for Camavinga, they might face a challenge for his signature as Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be interested.

Camavinga has been capped four times by France but missed out on a place in their European Championship squad. He was named in the France squad for this month's Olympics in Tokyo, but was then omitted from the updated list.
