Rennes offered Eduardo Camavinga sweetener as Man Utd lose ground in transfer race

Manchester United have been linked with a move for Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga this summer transfer window.

The wonderkid impressed in Ligue 1 last season, with his strong performances earning him a call-up to the France squad for the Nations League.

The Red Devils face stiff competition from Paris Saint-Germain for the teenager's signature, with Camavinga said to favour a move to the Ligue 1 giants.

And according to recent reports from France, PSG may be looking to offer Rennes a sweetener for any potential big-money deal between the two clubs.

The French giants are yet to make a bid for Camavinga, but clearly feel they can get in Rennes' good books before attempting to poach their star man.

Rennes, though, have rejected the offer from PSG.

Manchester United recently confirmed that Jadon Sancho had agreed on a £73million deal with the Old Trafford club.

The England international is expected to officially sign for the club after the Euros.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and co. have now turned their attention to landing a centre-back, with Raphael Varane high on the wishlist.

Declan Rice, Harry Winks and Camavinga have all been sounded out as potential midfield reinforcements, but Rio Ferdinand recently warned United against signing the Frenchman.

Speaking on his YouTube show, Vibe with Five, Ferdinand said: "I've not seen enough of him if I'm honest. I've seen a bit of him, his debut against PSG where he got man of the match, unreal.

"Talent? Obviously. Is he going to come in and affect the team right now and become a star, or is he going to come in and be a bit like an Amad, who comes in for £40m but is nowhere near the starting 11?

"Is that what we [United] need? Or do we need someone like Declan Rice who is flying at the moment?

"In an England shirt, he's taken it to other levels now. We all knew he was a good player at West Ham but what Declan Rice is doing in the England team right now, for his age, is madness."
