Rennes captain Damien Da Silva has appeared to offer a transfer hint surrounding the future of team-mate Edouard Mendy.
The Rennes goalkeeper has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge this summer.
The Blues have signed Kai Havertz, Ben Chilwell, Hakim Ziyech and Germany international Timo Werner for big-money deals, while landing Thiago Silva and Malang Sarr on free transfers.
But they are not done just yet, with Frank Lampard keen on adding a new goalkeeper to their ranks.
Kepa Arrizabalaga struggled for form last season, and even lost his place in Lampard's starting lineup to Willy Caballero post-lockdown.
As a result, Mendy has been tipped to seal a move to London this summer in order to challenge Kepa for the No.1 jersey.
And Da Silva, speaking to Telefoot on Tuesday, issued an update on his team-mate and suggested that a transfer may well be happening.
He said: “We are a little selfish, we don’t want to lose Edouard Mendy.
"But it’s part of football and the transfer market. He’s a great goalkeeper who deserves what happens to him.”
According to a report from Sky Sports over the weekend, Chelsea have officially opened talks with Rennes to try and reach an agreement to sign Mendy.
The Blues have made the decision to target a move for the Rennes shot-stopper after ending their interest in Lille goalkeeper Mike Maignan.
Maignan was high up on Chelsea's transfer wish list but they have been put off by Lyon's demands.
Chelsea are now aiming to focus all of their efforts on trying to land Mendy, who is valued at £18million.
