Renfrewshire weather: Thunderstorms, flooding and weekend temperatures of 20 degrees are expected

Renfrewshire is set to be battered by a thunderstorm later this week – but by the weekend it will brighter.

Weather forecasters at the Met Office say there is a chance heavy showers and thunderstorms may cause some travel disruption and flooding in places during Thursday afternoon and evening.

A spokesman for the Met Office said: “There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater and lightning strikes.

“Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services.

“Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.”

The forecaster added there is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost in areas affected,

Temperatures will reach maximum of 19 degrees and a low of 13.

On Friday and Saturday there will be cloudy with some sunny periods. It will feel warmer, with top temperatures of 20 degrees and lows of 12.
