Renfrewshire's Remembrance in Sunday ceremonies like no other at Paisley Cenotaph and towns and villages

Renfrewshire has remembered its war dead in much reduced ceremonies across the County.

The public had been discouraged from attending the acts of poppy laying at Paisley Cenotaph and at war memorials in the towns and villages.

Instead, socially distanced officials performed the ceremonies without the usual large crowds turning up to pay their respects.

Light rain fell as almost 200 people - mainly directly involved or representing an organisation - gathered at Paisley Cross for the main Remembrance Sunday service.

Provost Lorraine Cameron placed a wreath on behalf of Renfrewshire Council.

At the same time other Acts were taking place, from Barrhead to Renfrew, in what will be marked as an unprecedented year.

People have been laying poppies at the base of the 228-ton granite war memorial in Paisley for 96 years, but never in these circumstances.

Meanwhile Renfrewshire Council has been praised for producing a 30 minute video in the run-up to 11am.

It included contributions from members of the civilian and military community.

The Last Post was delivered on trumpet before a two-minute silence, allowing people at home to remember.
