Renfrewshire families are being asked to limit the number of households they see over the Christmas period to three, Nicola Sturgeon has announced.
The First Minister said the new restrictions - which will not be law - are vital in slowing down the Omicron variant of Covid-19 which is expected to be the most "dominant strain" of the virus within days.
A total of 3,107 positive cases were recorded in Scotland yesterday, with 541 people currently in hospitals across Scotland.

Families are being asked to reduce the number of people they mix with during the festive period, and any gatherings inside the home and in public places, such as bars and restaurants, are being asked to be limited to three households.
Hospitality and retail businesses in the area are being asked to implement safety measures such as screens, one way systems to prevent crowding and collect details for Test and Trace to curb the spread of the virus.
Nicola Sturgeon said a further £100 million had been identified by the Scottish Government to help hard hit businesses across the country who have seen cancellations of Christmas parties due to the recent announcements.
People are also being asked to work from home where possible.
Those who cannot work from home are now being asked to take lateral flow tests every day.
During her address in Scottish Parliament, she said the new "protective measures" were not imposed lightly, but were necessary due to Omicron "spreading rapidly" in Scotland.
She added: "I know how hard this is. I would not be asking for more sacrifices from the public if I did not consider this to be necessary to tackle a threat that is very real.
"We are not asking people to cancel Christmas. I'm asking everyone to reduce as much as possible their contacts with other households."
