A dad killed in a two-car crash in Renfrewshire has been remembered as a "loving, caring, and compassionate husband and father" by his devastated family.

David Horn passed away in hospital after being badly injured in the crash on the A78 near Inverkip on Saturday night.

The 59-year-old from Wemyss Bay was travelling in a Toyota Yaris which was involved in a collision with VW Golf at around 11.30pm. The 22-year-old male driver of the other vehicle was also rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment where his condition was described as ‘serious’ by medics.

Police closed the road for almost ten hours to allow for a full accident investigation. Enquiries into the circumstances of the collision remain ongoing.

In a moving statement, his family said: “David was a loving, caring and compassionate husband and father, and a ready, willing and true friend to many.”

Wellwishers have also paid their respects to David and his family.

One person wrote: "Absolutely gutted by this I worked with David twice. He was a true gentleman and a great person to be around. "

Another added: "Thoughts go out to David’s family. He was such a wonderful man."

Sergeant Nick Twigg said: “Our thoughts are very much with David’s family at this very difficult time.

“Our investigation to establish the full circumstances of what happened is ongoing and we continue to appeal to anyone who can assist, who has not already spoken with officers, to please get in touch.

“If you have dash-cam footage or anything else that could help, please call us on 101 and quote incident number 3898 of Saturday, 15 October, 2022.”
