Police are appealing for information after three lorries were deliberately set alight and vandalised at a business premises in Renfrew - causing hundreds of thousands of pounds in damage.

The incident happened around last night around 7:20pm in the yard of a scaffolding company in Sandyford Road.

Officers were called after three Hiab lorries were targeted; two were deliberately set alight and one was vandalised.

No one was in the yard at the time and no one was injured.

Detective Inspector Ian Ross, Paisley CID, said: "Officers have been carrying out enquiries in the area and are checking CCTV from the premises. Two young men, wearing casual clothing, possibly tracksuits, are seen climbing over the fence and in to the yard before exiting and running from Sandyford Road towards Paisley Road, Renfrew.

"The road has a couple of other business premises but leads on to Paisley Road which can be busy at that time of the night. I would ask that anyone who has any information that will assist our enquiries, including that of dash-cam footage from the street between 7 pm and 7.20 pm, contact Paisley CID via 101.

"Please quote reference number 2874 of 28 January 2021 when calling. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
