Renfrew care home reassures families after resident diagnosed with Covid-19

Chiefs at a Renfrew care home have moved to reassure residents and their families after a man in their care tested positive for coronavirus.

Craigielea Care Home says it has successfully contained the spread of the virus at its French Street address.

The announcement comes after a man, who was admitted to the home last week, began to show symptoms of the virus.

He was taken to hospital, where he is still receiving treatment.

A spokeswoman for Holmes Care Group, which operates Craigielea Care Home, said: “The health and wellbeing of our residents and staff remains our highest priority.

“A resident was admitted to Craigielea last week and began to show symptoms of coronavirus.

“The home ensured that they were admitted to hospital urgently and it was later confirmed that the resident tested positive for Covid-19.

“That resident remains in hospital.

“All new admissions to our homes are isolated for the first seven days of their stay as a precaution.

“There are no other cases of Covid-19 in the care home.

“We are writing to all the families to inform them of this update.”
