Yet more evidence of the pressure on journalists in Zimbabwe. Leo Mugabe, a nephew of President Robert Mugabe and a member of his ruling Zimbabwe African National Union Patriotic Front, has warned journalists against forming an independent media council without approval of the government, which has closed several newspapers and arrested reporters. The journalists have suggested the creation of a voluntary media council to supervise and maintain professional and ethical conduct in the face of government charges that the media is unprofessional.
