Renewed hope for Basildon paper's campaign

The Basildon Echo's campaign to stop a waste plant being built in south Essex has been given renewed hope. The Conservative majority on Essex county council, who have been behind the plan, have now bowed to pressure and invited opposition leaders to join a group that will consider the whole future of waste disposal in the county.
