Renegade Craft Fair returns to Grand Park in DTLA

July 08--The designers at the Renegade Craft Fair may change from year to year, but the mission remains the same: Showcase handmade crafts by independent artists in a lively marketplace.

Grand Park proved a vibrant outdoor setting for the indie market last year, and this year should be no different as more than 300 artists are expected at the downtown park this weekend.

Shoppers can snap up locally made goods by Southern California artisans, including ceramics by Michelle Luu Pottery, throw pillows made from Guatemalan textiles by Woven Rivers, handmade wood bowls by Motoko Smith for Motoko Works and wood cutting boards by Reese Supply Company.

The two-day fair also includes natural beauty products, candles, one-of-a-kind jewelry, clothing and letterpress goods. Event coordinators have posted a preview of some of the Los Angeles vendors and a detailed handy map for shoppers who want to plan ahead.

In addition to the handmade goods, Tandy Leather will host a DIY leather workshop. There will also be the mobile yarn store Yarnover Truck, the Library Store on Wheels, local food trucks, the gratis Magnolia Photo Booth and temporary metallic tattoos courtesy of GoldInk Tattoo.

If you can't make the summer market, don't worry. The fair is scheduled to return Dec. 12-13 in time for Christmas, at a venue to be determined.

Renegade Craft Fair, Grand Park between Hill and Spring streets, off of Broadway, downtown Los Angeles. Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free. The event will be held rain (wishful thinking) or shine. Dogs allowed.
