Rene Gilmartin has been appointed as Ireland Under-21 goalkeeping coach on a permanent basis.
Third choice keeper at Bristol City, he first linked up with Stephen Kenny’s squad for the September games against Armenia and Sweden.
He was retained for last month’s matches with Italy and Iceland and is now on board officially.
"It's a massively proud moment for me,” said the former Watford, Colchester, Walsall and Plymouth goalkeeper who also had a spell with St Pat’s.
Gilmartin, 32, is a former Irish Under-21 himself and added: "We've got some fantastic talent coming through.”
Ireland face Armenia in Yerevan next Thursday and then host Sweden in another key qualifier at Tallaght Stadium on Tuesday, November 19.
