RENAULT has revealed a sleek, hi-tech coupe-SUV – called the Arkana – to bolster its crossover range in the UK.
The French car maker’s newcomer is slightly larger than the Megane family hatchback and will sit between the Captur and Kadjar SUVs.
The Arkana will be offered with Renault’s E-TECH full hybrid technology – a 1.6-litre petrol engine combined with two electric motors producing 140hp.
The E-TECH hybrid powertrain can provide up to 80 per cent of city driving time with all-electric power and includes various driving modes. A 140hp 1.3-litre petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology will also be available.
The exterior includes SUV features such as raised ground clearance, skid plates and wheel arch cladding. But the plunging roofline, rising beltline, wide shoulders and distinctive light clusters front and back give it a coupe-like dynamism.
Renault says the spacious interior features refined materials and upholstery for a premium finish and exceptional comfort. On the practical side, there are plenty of cabin cubby holes and the boot is a healthy 513 litres, while the rear seats fold flat.
It is offered with one of the largest digital displays in its segment, with a new 9.3in multimedia portrait screen and a 10in TFT driver information display. There is also an abundance of connectivity and driver assistance systems available.
The Arkana will be ready to order in the UK from next July, with first deliveries expected in September 2021.
