Renault Bridger and R-Space Lab concepts lead new futurREady strategy

Renault Bridger hints at a small SUV that could come to the UK - (Renault)

Renault has revealed an ambitious new strategy that will see the French brand launch 26 vehicles over the next four years, expand its electrified lineup and accelerate growth beyond Europe.

The plan, called futuREady, outlines how Renault intends to strengthen its position in Europe while significantly increasing its international footprint. By the end of the decade the company aims to sell more than 2 million vehicles annually, with half of those sales coming from markets outside Europe.

Central to the strategy is a major product offensive, previewed by two new concepts: the Renault Bridger and Renault R-Space Lab. These concepts hint at 12 new models that Renault says it will launch in Europe by 2030, while also launching 14 vehicles aimed primarily at international markets.

Fabrice Cambolive, chief growth officer of Renault Group and CEO of the Renault brand, said the company is entering a new phase of expansion.

“We are now accelerating the next cycle of growth for the Renault brand thanks to three powerful drivers. Our ambition is clear: strengthen our European leadership, accelerate electrification, and go faster internationally to confirm Renault as the number one French automotive brand worldwide.

“By 2030, our objective is to sell 2 million vehicles worldwide, with half of sales generated outside Europe.”

Renault is aiming for 100 per cent electrified sales in Europe and 50 per cent electrified sales outside Europe, while delivering strong and sustainable profitability.”

In Europe, Renault will focus heavily on the small car segments where the brand has traditionally been strong. Recent launches including the latest Clio, the new Renault 5 E-Tech and the Renault 4 E-Tech are expected to play a major role, while the forthcoming Twingo E-Tech electric will help Renault extend its coverage of the smallest A segment.

The company also plans a fresh push into larger C and D segments, which currently account for around 30 per cent of Renault’s sales. A new wave of electric and hybrid models is being prepared, with the brand promising a steady stream of innovations while also aiming to improve affordability.

Electrification will be central to the brand’s strategy. Renault confirmed that its E-Tech full hybrid technology will remain an important part of its European range even after 2030, positioning it as a stepping stone for customers moving towards fully electric vehicles.

At the same time, Renault is preparing a new generation of electric models based on a fresh platform known as RGEV medium 2.0. Designed primarily for European markets, the architecture will support vehicles ranging from B+ segment models up to larger D segment cars.

The new platform will use 800-volt technology for ultra-fast charging and could deliver driving ranges of up to 466 miles. Renault says it will support several different configurations, including four-wheel-drive electric models capable of towing up to two tonnes, as well as versions with a range extender that could offer a combined range of around 870 miles.

Electrification is also being extended to Renault’s commercial vehicle lineup. The brand’s upcoming Trafic van E-Tech electric will feature a software-defined vehicle architecture and 800-volt charging capability, with a range of up to 280 miles.

Alongside new production models, Renault is also showcasing its thinking about future interiors through a concept called R-Space Lab. The experimental vehicle explores how the company’s traditional ‘voitures à vivre’ philosophy could evolve with a bright, highly modular cabin and flexible interior layout.

The one-box concept measures around 4500 mm long and 1500 mm tall and features an expansive glazed roof and slim pillars designed to flood the cabin with light. Inside, Renault has developed a curved openR panorama screen stretching across the full width of the dashboard, displaying vehicle information, driver assistance systems and multimedia functions.

The concept also experiments with new safety and user-interface technologies, including artificial intelligence that could provide personalised driving advice and assistance.

Beyond Europe, Renault is targeting significant expansion in markets such as Morocco, Turkey, Latin America, South Korea and India, where the brand already has established manufacturing and sales operations. Cambolive said these international hubs will play a crucial role in the company’s growth plans.

One of the first signs of that international push is the Bridger Concept, a small SUV designed primarily for emerging markets. Measuring under four metres long, the concept previews a future production model expected to launch before the end of 2027.

The vehicle will be built in India and is expected to be offered with a range of powertrains depending on the market, including combustion engines, hybrid systems and a fully electric version.

Despite its compact footprint, Renault says the concept offers generous interior space with 200 mm of rear knee room and a boot capacity of around 400 litres.

With 26 new models planned over the next four years and a renewed focus on electrification and global markets, Renault believes the futuREady strategy will position the brand for its next phase of growth while supporting the wider transition towards electrified mobility.
