'Rename the stadium already!' - Arsenal fans excited by rumours of Arsene Wenger's return

Arsene Wenger is one of the most important men in the history of Arsenal.

His arrival in North London brought with it a new era of the Premier League, as the Gunners picked up three titles in his first eight years, culminating with the incredible Invincibles season in 2003/04.

However, a barren period followed in regards to the league as Wenger was forced to balance limited funds with a move to the Emirates Stadium in 2006.

Over the next 12 years, Arsenal picked up a number of FA Cups, but found an increasingly divided fan base as the Gunners failed to regularly compete in title races.

Wenger eventually decided to leave North London in 2018, and was replaced by Unai Emery - who the Gunners subsequently replaced with Mikel Arteta at the end of 2019.

But according to the Mirror, the Arsenal hierarchy are keen to bring Wenger back to the club, with senior figures said to have already made approaches.

And Gunners fans are already getting excited about a possible return for the Arsenal legend.

Talks are also said to have taken place about a possible statue for the former Arsenal manager, to go with the figures of Dennis Bergkamp, Tony Adams, Herbert Chapman and Thierry Henry at the Emirates Stadium.

Wenger is said to have agreed to 'sit' for a statue to be made of him.

The former Arsenal boss recently agreed to take a role at FIFA as the head of global football development, tasked with overseeing progress in all areas.
