Remote rustic home with stunning views has price slashed by £50k

A home with no neighbours, stunning views and isolation with plenty of potential would usually be one snapped up by budding 'doer-uppers', however one such property in the Yorkshire Dales has had its price reduced by £50,000, YorkshireLive reports. The rustic house was listed for £300,000 initially, however the property has struggled to sell, and has consequentially been dropped to £250,000, despite being described as an “exciting project” located in a “stunningly beautiful location” by estate agents Fisher Hopper.

The house was formerly a railway worker's, and is across from a railway route by Ribblehead. Perhaps most consequentially, 3 Bleamoor Cottages is on a main hiking path up Whernside, meaning that anyone interested in viewing or living in the house must park over 20 minutes walk away from the house as there is no vehicle access.

Due to Whernside being one of the Three Peaks, there is plenty of walking traffic passing the house every day. The estate agents also said that the property could be an ideal site for a bunkhouse or refreshment stop on the route, as well as a home.

But a future buyer will have plenty of work to do in bringing the house up to standard due to the building's poor condition. Pictures show exposed brickwork, peeling wallpaper, broken tiling and signs of damp.

Utilities are also lacking, and the previous owners had to use a windmill and a generator to power the property. A septic tank was also put in place, Calor Gas was used for cooking and water was transported by a trailer.

Despite all this, the stunning location of the home is plain for all to see. Surrounded by the natural beauty of the Yorkshire Dales, the view is second-to-none.

It's also a good spot for train enthusiasts and is located right next to the Blea Moor signal box, which is the most isolated signal box still operated by Network Rail. Fisher Hopper say "there is great potential here" for the "right buyer with vision.”
