Reminder: Tom Brady has a losing record against the Broncos

Tom Brady becoming an unrestricted free agent is undoubtedly the biggest story of the NFL offseason. On Tuesday, Brady confirmed that he won’t return to the Patriots in 2020, prompting fans and pundits to reminisce about his legacy in New England.

Here’s a stat that Broncos fans can reminisce about: 8-9.

Brady has a losing record (8-9) against just one team in the NFL: Denver. He barely edged them out in the regular season (7-6) but was largely underwhelming against the Broncos in the postseason (1-3).

Bill Belichick and Brady suffered their first playoff loss as a coach-QB duo against Denver in 2005. The only time Brady managed to beat the Broncos in the postseason was 2011, when Tim Tebow was Denver’s quarterback.

Brady faced the Broncos twice in the AFC Championship when Peyton Manning played in Denver. The Patriots lost both those contests.

Brady is one of the best — perhaps the best — quarterback in NFL history, but the Broncos always managed to give him trouble.
