Remembering Wade Wilson

The NFL world lost a man too soon on Friday.

Wade Wilson died on Friday, on his 60th birthday, in Coppell, Texas.

A 911 call was made to police saying Wilson was unresponsive. Police said there was no foul play and the death was under investigation.

Wilson played in the league for 17 seasons, including 10 with the Vikings from 1981-1991. He was named to the Pro Bowl in 1988.

In his time with the Vikings, he started 48 games and led the Vikings to a 27-21 record, throwing for 12,135 yards, 66 touchdowns and 75 interceptions.

He led the Vikings to the NFC championship game in the 1987 season, where they fell to the Redskins, 17-10.

Wilson also played for the Falcons, Saints, Cowboys and Raiders.

After his playing career, Wilson was a quarterbacks coach for the Cowboys (2000-2002, 2007-2017) and the Bears (2004-2006).

As a backup to Troy Aikman, he was part of the Cowboys team that won the Super Bowl after the 1995 season.

Quite the career for a 1981 eighth-round draft pick.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Wilson family.
