Remembering Paul O'Connell's amazing Question of Sport answer five years on

This week marks five years since Paul O'Connell came up with one of the great TV moments of all time.

The Ireland legend has tended to exceed in most things he has put his hand to in life, winning European Cups, a Grand Slam and captaining the British and Irish Lions in 2009.

And O'Connell is still proving himself today as a coach with Ireland and has played a hand in Andy Farrell's side's recent upturn in form,

But five years ago the Munster legend had a moment he will never forget when appearing on popular BBC quiz show A Question Of Sport.

Appearing on the show back in 2016, O'Connell was paired up with captain Phil Tufnell and jockey AP McCoy against Matt Dawson, Leon Osman and Elinor Barker.

And in the game in question, both teams had to be first to a buzzer to answer a question and the reward for answering so was the chance to crack a blank puzzle.

With just two letters revealed on the 23 letter puzzle, O'Connell took a punt at guessing the correct answer Borussia Monchengladbach which sparked crazy scenes in the studio with O'Connell receiving a standing ovation from the audience and opposition.

O'Connell will be hoping for a similarly dazzling performance from his Ireland side this November.

Ireland will play three times in November as they start off their international window with Japan on November 6.

All eyes will turn to a clash with New Zealand a week later before they sign of 2021 with a game against Argentina on November 21.
