'Remember this name' - Liverpool fans wowed by latest young star to make first team claim

On a night of several positives for Liverpool, Tyler Morton was one of three players to make his debut for the Reds in their 3-0 win over Norwich.

Kaide Gordon and Conor Bradley grabbed the pre-match headlines as they were named in the starting lineup, but Morton had a transformative effect from the bench.

Though unlike Gordon, who made his professional debut for Derby last year, and Bradley, who has been capped by Northern Ireland, Morton’s second-half performance was his first experience of senior football.

Utilised in a more defensive centre-midfield position, after coming on at half-time for Naby Keita, the lesser-known Morton made a huge impression upon the Liverpool fanbase.

Having joined the club as a seven-year-old, his performance at Carrow Road had been more than a decade in the making.

The teenager from the Wirral has predominantly been used as a box-to-box style midfielder for Barry Lewtas’ U23 side, scoring five and assisting three in 14 Premier League 2 games last season.

However, that Jurgen Klopp trusted the academy graduate, who signed a new contract in January, to perform in a slightly different position speaks volumes of the belief the coaching staff have in the 18-year-old.

After the game, the German boss alluded to Morton’s influence, when discussing his tactical switches.

“We had moments where we struggled,” Klopp admitted to Sky Sports , post-match.

“It was clear the organisation wasn’t right, we had to try some things we didn’t want to try. Curtis [Jones] at six in the first half, first time in his life, the organisation was just not right.

“We scored goals, kept fighting and I liked it. We controlled the game in the second-half a lot, I liked that a lot, the kids did brilliant.”
