Rematch: How Does The Ranked System Work?

Rematch is the latest 5v5 online multiplayer game, but with a twist. Instead of objectives and abilities, you’ve got soccer and goals. The game matches players into teams of two to compete against each other, just like FIFA Street back in the old days. But it’s only fun when there are stakes, right?

Fortunately, Rematch features an extensive ranked system for players to put their skills to the test. The ranked system is broken down into Leagues and further divided into Divisions, similar to Rocket League. If you’ve been gearing up to test your mettle in this 5v5 football extravaganza, it’s your time to shine. Let’s break down exactly how the ranked system works in Rematch.

Explaining The Ranked System – Leagues, Divisions, RP

First things first, how is the ranked ladder divided? The ranked system is divided into 5 Leagues, which are further subdivided into 3 divisions each. The divisions are as follows:

League Division RP Requirement
Bronze Div 3 0
Bronze Div 2 100
Bronze Div 1 200
Silver Div 3 300
Silver Div 2 400
Silver Div 1 500
Gold Div 3 600
Gold Div 2 700
Gold Div 1 800
Platinum Div 3 900
Platinum Div 2 1000
Platinum Div 1 1100
Diamond Div 3 1200
Diamond Div 2 1300
Diamond Div 1 1400
Elite Div 3 1500
Elite Div 2 1600
Elite Div 1 1700

As you can see, the breakdown is quite simple. Every 100 RP, you’ll go up one division. Every 3 divisions, you’ll be promoted to a new League.

Now, we mentioned gaining RP (ranked points), but how do you obtain them, and how many are awarded per match?

The RP system in Rematch is similar to other games. You’ll receive RP when you win, and you’ll drop some when you lose. As far as the amount of RP is concerned, it can vary from match to match.

Some games have fixed RP additions and deductions, regardless of how you play. While others take into consideration factors like your MMR and your performance in that match. Additionally, if there’s a disparity between you and your opponent, the rating shift is larger. For example, if you were Gold Div 1 and lost to a Bronze Div 2, you’d drop a lot more RP compared to losing to another Gold Div 1.

An interesting system that SloClap has added, though, is the method of promotion. Once you reach the end of Div 1 for any League, you’ll need to participate in promotion matches. This is a series of 3 matches, out of which you need to win two to get promoted. The best-of-three system reduces the chances of players getting boosted or getting stuck in a League.

With the game still in early stages, we’ll have to wait and see if they add any additional factors to the ranked ladder.

Tips For Ranked Matches In Rematch

Here are a few tips that should help when starting:

  • Don’t leave a match or go AFK. Rematch applies ranked penalties to players with bad sportsmanship on top of losing RP.
  • Play with friends. There is no solo queue in Rematch, so it’s better to grab some friends rather than queuing up with strangers.
  • Watch streams. It’s always helpful to watch the top layer of players go head-to-head. They might teach you some important mechanics to improve.
  • Remember that Ranked unlocks at level 5, so try to get there as soon as possible.
