Remarkable drone footage shows expansive Broadmarsh Centre site from above

This drone footage reveals just how expansive the Broad Marsh area of Nottingham really is ahead of its planned redevelopment.

The aerial view of the condemned Broadmarsh Centre, which lies opposite the new car park and library, provides a never before seen perspective of the centre of the city.

It is an area roughly the size of Wembley Stadium, with much of it currently inhabited by the dilapidated remains of the former shopping centre, following the demise of intu last year.

However it has since been announced world-renowned urban designer Thomas Heatherwick has been hired to help transform the site alongside the city council, an advisory board and the people of the city who shared their views during a consultation known as 'The Big Conversation'.

With multiple levels and a network of medieval caves beneath its foundations, the site is immensely complex, but it is hoped a new vision will be developed by the end of the year.

With the creative quarter on one and the newly renovated Nottingham Castle on the other, also accompanied by the continued redevelopment of the southern gateway, the historic Broad Marsh area is the final step in the city's vast transformation.
