Relief from searing heat expected: Met dept

CHANDIGARH: The next few days may bring some relief to the sweltering city, the meteorological department said. Already, there is some relief as an active western disturbance has rendered nights cooler.

The meteorological department has predicted rain with strong wind in Chandigarh on Tuesday. Due to the western disturbance, there is a possibility of good rain in the hilly areas as well as the plains. On April 20 and 21, there is a possibility of rain in Chandigarh. On Monday, maximum temperature was recorded at 39.9 degrees Celsius while minimum was recorded at 21.8 degrees Celsius.

The meteorological department said that the night temperature will continue to be mild till April 23. Day temperature will increase by only two to three degrees Celsius. Strong winds with a speed of 35 kmph are also likely to begin in the next 72 hours.

The department has issued a warning about change of weather in the next 48 hours. Met department officials said that a western disturbance is becoming active in Rajasthan in 48 hours.
