Strikes during the busy holiday period at Gatwick Airport have been suspended following an improved pay offer.
Baggage screeners employed by ICTS had planned to walk out from August 22-26 – which includes a bank holiday weekend – and August 29 to September 2.
But Unite said it will be balloting the workers on a new pay offer over the coming days.
Strike action scheduled from 22 August to 26 August will not take place.
But the union has warned that if the new pay offer is rejected, then strike action from August 29 to September 2 will go ahead.
Unite regional officer Ben Davis said: “Following an improved offer from ICTS, Unite has suspended strikes in order to ballot its members.”
Unite previously said the workers are among the lowest paid at the West Sussex airport, earning “just above the minimum wage”.
Meanwhile, ICTS made a profit before tax of £6.1 million in 2024, a 46.9% increase compared to the previous year, according to the union.
There were 900 flights scheduled each day on August 3 and August 10 at the height of the busy summer travel period.
Passenger numbers are set to peak this Sunday, according to Gatwick Airport.
This summer, the airport will serve 224 destinations via 59 airlines, including 160 short-haul flights.
The most popular destinations are Malaga, Barcelona and Palma De Mallorca.
There are also 54 long-haul services from the airport, with Dubai, Shanghai and Orlando receiving the most bookings.
