'Relegation bound!' - Arsenal fans sent into meltdown after Thomas Partey injury scare

Arsenal have suffered a major injury scare ahead of the new Premier League season getting underway.

Midfielder Thomas Partey, whose debut campaign in north London was disrupted by numerous fitness setbacks following his £45m transfer from Atletico Madrid last summer - had to be withdrawn five minutes before half-time against Chelsea.

football.london are at the Emirates Stadium for The Mind Series triangular tournament - a competition to raise money for Mind, the mental health charity - and noticed that the Ghana international picked up the knock following a collision in the penalty area.

And after attempting to carry on, it became clear that Partey 's afternoon was over.

It remains to be seen just how serious the injury is, but the midfielder has already stated that he was hopeful of staying healthy next season.

"Yes, when you see the last few games I was able to play more than 70, some matches 90 minutes, so I think I’m feeling good," he said whilst speaking to TV3 earlier in the summer.

"I had to rest for the next season, but when you have a national duty you cannot say no, you can try all your best but then it’s your country you have to come back and do whatever you have to do and be professional."

As expected, seeing Partey fail to complete 45 minutes of a pre-season friendly has sent some Arsenal fans into a meltdown on social media.
