Released Notts County striker Nathan Tyson joins close rivals Chesterfield

Nathan Tyson has joined Notts County's close rivals Chesterfield following his departure from Meadow Lane.

The former Nottingham Forest forward was released by the Magpies prior to their play-off campaign in the National League.

He had spent much of the second half of the season on loan at the Spireites and they have now decided to make that switch permanent.

"I'm absolutely delighted to finally get it over the line," said Tyson who scored one goal for Notts last season.

"It was always in my mind that I wanted to come here, especially with how the loan went.

"It ticks every single box and this was always my first choice. I've had a couple of other offers which I've had to turn down."

Tyson will be reunited with former Forest coach John Pemberton who is expected to be given the job as Spireites boss on a full-time basis.

And he was delighted to get his man.

"Nathan offers us a completely different dimension so I was very keen to sign him.

"He is an excellent professional who has looked after himself and he'll be a great asset."
