Released Nottingham Forest defender wanted by Championship rivals

Reading are reportedly considering a move for former Nottingham Forest defender Yuri Ribeiro.

The Portuguese left-back was recently released by the Reds and has been out of contract since the start of July.

After joining Forest from Benfica in 2019, he made a total of 58 appearances, scoring once for Chris Hughton's side.

According to the Reading Chronicle, Reading are considering Ribeiro as a replacement for Omar Richards, who has left the Royals to join German giants Bayern Munich.

Due to Reading's current transfer embargo, they are operating within very strict parameters but with Ribeiro currently a free agent, the Royals stand a good chance of completing the transfer, if they get clearance by the EFL.

With his previous experience in the Championship, the well-balanced full-back could be a decent option for Reading.

He is solid defensively and can offer a threat going forward, which would work in the favour of Reading boss Veljko Paunovic.

And Ribeiro dropped a transfer hint on Twitter, posting an arrow with the word "soon" underneath, suggesting a move may be announced imminently.
