NEW YORK _ Simon & Schuster announced Tuesday it was pushing back the release date of former National Security Adviser John Bolton's highly anticipated book about his time in the Trump White House.
The publisher cited an ongoing government security review of the manuscript as a reason for the delay.
Simon & Schuster announced a $2 million deal for the book in November. The book reportedly includes allegations that President Donald Trump pressured the Ukrainian government to investigate Joe Biden, an issue that was central to the president's impeachment. However, the Senate voted against hearing witnesses during its trial.
At a public speaking event in February, Bolton referred to Ukraine portions of the book as "the sprinkles on an ice cream sundae, in terms of the book. This is an effort to write history."
According to the Washington Post, Trump has directly involved himself in the White House's review of the book.
Trump reportedly said "everything he uttered to the departed aide about national security is classified and that he will seek to block the book's publication, according to two people familiar with the conversations."
