Rekeem Harper blow for Celtic as Juventus 'hopeful' of convincing teen to make Serie A switch

Juventus hope to pip Liverpool and Tottenham to sign Celtic target Rekeem Harper this summer, according to reports.

The Hoops have their eye on the out-of-contract West Brom midfielder.

But they have serious competition for the 19-year-old with the Serie A champions among a host of clubs preparing to swoop.

Harper is out of contract this month and has failed to agree a new deal at the Hawthorns.

Slaven Bilic has made convincing the youngster to stay a top priority after taking over at the Baggies.

But it appears the player has his heart set on a new challenge with the Mirror reporting Juve are "hopeful" of winning the race to his signature.

Harper has been at West Brom since the age of 12 and would be available for a small cross-border compensation fee should Celtic be successful in their pursuit.

A box-to-box midfielder, Harper made a total of 23 appearances last season, scoring one goal, as West Brom made the Championship play-offs.

The 6ft teen spent part of the previous season on loan at Blackburn and was praised by former West Brom boss Jimmy Shan last month.

He said: "Rak is a powerful young boy, very good in the half-turn and he can play forward.

“He is probably more of an offensive midfield player than one that will sit in and screen and deny."
