Arsenal youngster Reiss Nelson has spoken out on growing up with Jadon Sancho.
The two players grew up five minutes away from each other, and have formed a strong friendship over the years, with the two being just three months apart in age.
Nelson came up through the youth team at the Emirates Stadium, while Sancho started his career at Watford and Manchester City before completing the move to Borussia Dortmund in August 2017.
He has since gone from strength to strength, with Premier League clubs including Manchester United and Chelsea competing to complete a summer transfer for the 19-year-old.
However, growing up, the two players would be a source of debate for the local community, with arguments over who was better.
“It got a bit annoying and boring,” Nelson told the Evening Standard. “We’d be out, in a nice place, and someone would throw a ball and say: ‘These two, battle each other!’
“It got to a point where we were both just like: ‘Nah, we can’t just go messing around with each other all the time’. He’s like my brother, it’s not a battle like some people say.”
The two could though find themselves being rivals on the pitch in the next few months, with reports suggesting that the England international is set for a summer move from the Bundesliga club.
Chelsea have been long-term admirers of Sancho, but face competition from Manchester City for his signature.
