Reiss Nelson has message for Gary Lineker as Match of the Day host gives verdict on Arsenal ace

Arsenal teenager Reiss Nelson has been tipped for great things by former Tottenham Hotspur striker Gary Lineker.

The 19-year-old started for Arsenal against Newcastle United as the Gunners made a winning start to the new Premier League season, with Nelson lining up alongside fellow youngster Joe Willock for Unai Emery's men.

He put in a decent showing too in only his fourth Premier League appearance for Arsenal, with his display catching the attention of the Match of the Day host, who took to social media to share his thoughts on the young Gunner.

Lineker said: The new arrival (sort of) for @Arsenal I’m really looking forward to watching is young @ReissNelson9. Thought he looked a real talent whilst on loan at Hoffenheim.

And Nelson has responded to the BBC presenter on Twitter to thank him for his kind words, adding that he will "do his best" for the Gunners.

Nelson, who was born and grew up in London, has been with the Gunners since 2007, and has risen through the ranks at Arsenal, signing his first professional contract in 2016 and making his first competitive appearance for the club the following year.

He has featured in the Europa League and Carabao Cup for Arsenal, and started for the first time in the Premier League in April 2018 against Southampton, while he spent time on loan in Germany with Hoffenheim last season, scoring seven goals in 23 appearances in the Bundesliga.

But the England U21 international has been involved with the Gunners in pre-season following his return, and started against Newcastle today as he looks to try and establish himself in the first team.
