Arsenal's first-team squad are still coming to terms with their Europa League exit.
Despite Nicolas Pepe's penalty that gave the Gunners an away goal heading into the semi-final second leg tie with Villarreal on Thursday night, it was Unai Emery who had the last laugh.
On his first return to the Emirates Stadium following his sacking in November 2019, the former Arsenal head coach saw his current side keep a clean sheet, somewhat comfortably, to set up a Europa League final against Manchester United.
Therefore Mikel Arteta has been left to pick up the pieces for what has been a disappointing season for the north London outfit.
Not only was the Europa League Arsenal's last chance to seal a return to the Champions League, but it was also their best chance to ensure they were playing in Europe next season.
Unless Arteta's side claim a top-seven finish, the 2021/22 campaign will mark the first time Arsenal have not competed in European competition in over two decades.
As a result, there's been a hush around the Gunners squad following that disappointing result but Reiss Nelson has become one of the first to speak out on social media.
Although, it wasn't to reflect on the Villarreal game.
Rather he took to Instagram to show his support for Joe Willock who was on the scoresheet for a fourth successive game as Newcastle United beat Leicester City 4-2 on Friday night.
Nelson was an unused substitute against Villarreal, extending his run without an Arsenal first-team appearance to 26 across all competitions.
In fact, he's featured just once under Arteta in 2021 and talks over his future expected at the end of the season.
"With Reiss, I would like to give him more,” said Arteta after the 2-0 win over Newcastle last weekend.
"He’s a boy who trains really hard, he wants to do extra all the time but it’s very difficult at the moment with the players that we have to fit him.
"I feel sorry that we don’t have other competitions to use him because he deserves more. If he doesn’t play more it’s my fault."
