One of Monkey's favourite websites, Regret the Error – which collects journalistic corrections and apologies from around the world – has published its best of 2009 list. The coveted correction of the year title went to the Washington Post, for one that's already become a classic: "A Nov. 26 article in the District edition of Local Living incorrectly said a Public Enemy song declared 9/11 a joke. The song refers to 911, the emergency phone number." The Guardian, we're proud to say, manages three on the shortlist – no other paper has more than one, although several other British newspapers put in powerful performances in the separate apologies category.
