Regional accountancy heavyweight Forrester Boyd turns to Barclays to back growth in new era

Leading pan-Humber accountancy firm Forrester Boyd has secured funding to support its own growth plans and future-proofing strategy.

Backing from new banker Barclays follows the appointment of nine new partners, swelling the number to 17, as it looks to target new markets.

It also recently acquired Hull firm Graybrowne, taking employee numbers to 155.

Kevin Hopper, managing partner at Forrester Boyd, said: “Evolving and expanding the business is pivotal for the future of the practice. The funding from Barclays has enabled us to promote new partners and ensure the business is fit for the future with a diverse team operating across many sectors.

“We will continue to develop and invest in our colleagues with our aim to attract and retain the best talent and expertise we can for our clients.”

The firm can be traced back to 1900 when Mr SM Forrester began practising in Grimsby. In 1935 a merger with Mr W Robson Boyd created the partnership.

It remains headquartered in Grimsby’s South St Mary’s Gate, the same town centre building where Forrester Boyd was originally established.

Along with the Hull addition, it also has offices in Beverley, Louth, Scunthorpe and Skegness.

Kevin Peart, Barclays’ relationship director put together the funding package for the deal. He said: “It’s been very rewarding working with Kevin and the team future-proofing the practice.

“I know they have plans to keep moving forward and continue their ethos of providing proactive business advice, to increase the wealth of their clients. The new funding from Barclays will enable them to support their clients and also target new markets and we’re delighted to be able to support Forrester Boyd with their growth ambitions.”
